Dancing Legacy in-person and online residencies bring together professionals, students, educators, and general audiences in a comfortable environment that supports active engagement with dance through multiple pathways.
Our methods build literacy, investigate authenticity, and nurture an individual relationship to the dances. We complement studio time with video viewing, reading, discussion, and writing to offer further insight and context around the featured choreographer and related dance styles. Dancing Legacy tailors residences according to skill-level, need, and interest, and each residency can include one or more of the following:
If you would to be considered for a Dancing Legacy residency, please fill out our Residency Application. Dancing Legacy programming occurs year-round. However, we respond to inquiries and set-up schedules during periodic time blocks: mid-January, mid-April, early July, and early October.
- staging Repertory Etudes and/or independent choreographer repertory (depending on circumstances, our "do-it-yourself" resources may be available to support the process)
- presenting performances including professionals and students
- offering classes, community workshops, lecture demonstrations, and panel discussions
- leading activities that build connections within the dance field and between the field and the general public
