Guided by the artistic experience, cultural perspective, and intrepid vision of Carolyn Adams and Julie Adams Strandberg, Dancing Legacy is powered by the passion and efforts of an inter-generational, geographically dispersed, grass roots network of artists, educators, and specialists. Our network structure and workflow are inspired by membership and cooperative models with a hybrid of part-time and project-based work, donated time, barter/exchange, and partnerships with organizations sharing compatible missions.
The basic architecture of the Network remains consistent, but over time, each individual may change roles and engage at different levels depending on personal priorities and focus and the nature of Dancing Legacy’s activities. Fluidity and flux are therefore implicit parts of Dancing Legacy’s structure. The breakdown below is a snapshot of current roles and groupings; it is expected that people shift around each season.
Core Network
At the heart of the broader network, the Core Network promotes our mission, works consistently on programming and projects, and maintains on-going administration. The Core Network is made up of the following subgroups, with many Core Network members serving in multiple roles.
Primary Network
Primary Network members play finite, valuable roles in strengthening and developing Dancing Legacy’s work. The Primary Network can take different forms and is currently made up of the following two groups.

Core Network
At the heart of the broader network, the Core Network promotes our mission, works consistently on programming and projects, and maintains on-going administration. The Core Network is made up of the following subgroups, with many Core Network members serving in multiple roles.
- Blueprint Team: sets the organizational strategy and goals; designs programming and projects at a macro level; and ensures activities are connected to our vision and goals.
- Operations Team: oversees implementation of programming and projects; manages Network members and temporary staff; leads communications and development efforts; and oversees organizational administration and finances. Operations Team members have named titles.
- Ensemble: demonstrates our philosophy in action, engaging varied populations through performances and teaching programs.
- Consulting Team: participates in varying capacities and phases of programming and projects, bringing different areas of expertise and ranging perspectives. The Consulting Team changes over time depending on relationships and activities.
Primary Network
Primary Network members play finite, valuable roles in strengthening and developing Dancing Legacy’s work. The Primary Network can take different forms and is currently made up of the following two groups.
- Fellows: dancers considering a deeper role with Dancing Legacy who are engaging with us over time to get to know our philosophy, approach, methods, and work flow more intimately.
- Educators Cohort: teachers from across the globe with whom we work to collaboratively develop resources for our residencies, courses, gatherings, and school, and to pilot Repertory Etude teacher training methods.
