Company Track Curriculum
The Company Track offers 9-17 year olds a comprehensive way of studying dance and connects students to the fullness that dance has to offer. The mix of ages and levels is built into the curriculum, utilizing the power that can come from learning in a diverse environment, while also including times where the students are divided by age or level to focus on different things. Students in the track join the Fusionworks Youth Ensemble, providing the opportunity to study and perform dance masterworks, and engage in projects with professionals and community members that unite the students with the broader field of dance.

The Company Track covers four areas of study:
- Technique
Students study modern and ballet techniques. Modern is taught in a progression that surveys American dance pioneers Horton, Graham, Limón, and others as applicable to the repertory. Classical ballet technique is taught with an anatomical focus that is geared towards understanding design, clarity, and lines of the body and space. Modern and ballet techniques, taught as weekly classes throughout the year, are also part of the Youth/Open Program and include students who aren't enrolled in the Company Track. - Style
Students investigate a range of styles such as contemporary, pointe, lyrical, jazz, or musical theater. Styles are taught in units and rotate throughout the year. - Enrichment
Students are introduced to various topics that support the technique and styles classes. Topics include anatomy, Laban Movement Analysis, improvisation, dance history and composition. Topics will be taught in units and rotate throughout the year. - Repertory
As members of the Fusionworks Youth Ensemble, students learn, rehearse, and are coached in full-length dances for two performances: "Festival of Dance" in April 2021 at Brown University with professionals, college students, and community members; and "Spring Finale" in June 2021 for the school's end of year showcase. Additional informal performance opportunities may be possible as the year unfolds.
