Dancing Legacy Mini-Courses offer learners a brief but in-depth course of study in specific areas pertaining to dance.
Dance Repertory as Shared Knowledge
Dance Repertory as Shared Knowledge is a series taught by Carolyn Adams, Mary Anne Santos Newhall, and Julie Adams Strandberg, and it is an exploration of viewing, making, and doing dance. It looks at dances within their historical contexts as well as their present-day relevance. It is a course for everyone. It gives dance enthusiasts a deeper connection to significant dance works, and it makes important dances more accessible and approachable for those less familiar with dance.
RepEtude Workshop for Dormant Dancers
RepEtude Workshop for Dormant Dancers is designed for people who aren't actively dancing in a regular way. Rather than the usual term "former dancer," we believe that people are always dancers even if they didn't pursue it professionally or have "retired" from their professional careers...that side of them is just dormant. Perhaps you danced in your youth and dance is extremely important, but you may not have danced much in years or decades. This course is for you and allows participants to get back in touch with their “dancer selves.” Participants take class together and learn a Repertory Etude at a gentle pace with the option of performing during the Mini-Fest.
